FAQ About thse Service
A wet fire protection system is continuously filled with water under pressure and discharges water immediately, while a dry fire protection system has air or nitrogen under pressure and water is released when a sprinkler head is triggered. Wet systems are best for indoor use, while dry systems are beneficial in cold environments.
Wet and dry riser systems are vertical pipelines that are used by firefighters during fires to supply water to different floors of the building. Wet riser systems are already charged with water and are primarily found in tall buildings, while dry riser systems are not pre-charged and require a fire engine to supply water to the system at the ground level of a building.
A dry riser system is usually installed in buildings over 18 meters high, with the inlet valve fitted at ground level no further than 18 m from the fire service access level. For buildings over 60 meters in height, an additional inlet valve is installed on the floor level every 60 meters.
The pressure in a wet riser is usually set to a range of 4 to 12 bar at the outlet, which is enough to reach the upper floors of tall buildings. The pressure of the source supply is required to overcome the friction loss that occurs as water travels through the pipes.
